The vertex shader passes texture coordinates to the fragment shader, which pulls information from an image file. Within the fragment shader, the sketch creates displacement using fractal Brownian motion (FBM), a technique that layers noise patterns. The image texture is warped by this animated noise to simulate a kind of fluid, wave-like motion.
With the constraint of only using circles, I sought to create a short animation that was not representative, but could still communicate emotion. Thus, I chose meditative music to play along circular animations. To me, circles represent wholeness and harmony. The Oscillation is driven by the sin(time) in order to make the circles expand and contract, as well as making them move in their radial distance from the center.
p5 gallery of original art. The main feature here is the extensive documentation, which presents approachable, fun definitions for technical coding terms and offers a lighthearted explanation of the associated math. This project uses documentation to make code more accessible, especially for individuals facing math anxiety-related challenges.
